Greetings & Welcome to Henderson

7/27/2025

Welcome Back Great Henderson Academy Parents,  Teachers and Staff,

After a year of extensive new learning by all, Henderson made many significant gains despite all of the turmoil in the District. At Henderson Academy the culture and climate of peace and high expectations in learning will continue to permeate our atmosphere, setting the stage for phenomenal student success.

A key CIWP goal, in SY25, was that all Henderson Teachers and staff would deliver high quality standards-based instruction to scholars every day.  Additionally, our introductory work on the strategy of writing clear learning targets aligned to success criteria worked!  Evidence of scholars’ growth, in multiple areas, will be shared and discussed during Week 0. The work continues!

This year, the focus is on monitoring for action … to realize even more growth. Adhering to SY26 priorities and goals, we will ensure all kids feel good (a sense of belonging) so they will improve faster.  Kids feel good about themselves when they are competent. We will ensure they are competent and on grade level.

The ILT will continue to lead this success work ensuring:
  • All instruction is grade level aligned.
  • All scholars feel a rightful presence and a sense of belonging in our school
  • All scholars are provided language instruction that is linguistically sustaining
Each Henderson Leader, Teacher and Staff will participate in Learning Cycles aligned to CIWP/CIDT priorities.

Henderson’s SY26 Priorities are:
  1. Tier I Instruction (Use data driven learning cycles to measure practice (Rigor Walk) and outcome data (tracking for learning and assessments to measure learning)
  2. MTSS Systems and Structures (High Quality Small Group Instruction, Assessment analysis, Sheltered Language Instruction, SEL/BHT, DL and EL supports and revised Ed tech Resources)
  3. Consistent analysis and monitoring of Attendance, On Track, Grading, and Culture and Climate data and systems

Henderson Academy is committed to and fiercely determined that EVERY Scholar will succeed! This motto drives our work every day, in every classroom throughout the school community.

Make no mistake! YOU (Teachers and staff) ARE HENDERSON’S MOST VALUED RESOURCE!  You make learning visible and available…. never forget how important you are to the success of this work…Each of you are invaluable and much appreciated.
Mrs. Brown and I welcome each of you back to another year of phenomenal success in teaching and learning.
Get ready to achieve greatness together!

Many Blessings,
Marvis Jackson-Ivy, Principal
Tawanda L. Brown, Assistant Principal
