After Care
Henderson Elementary partnered with Family Focus for a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant funded by the Illinois State Board Education to provide high quality academic and enrichment programs for students during out-of-school-time to help them succeed in the classroom.
Programs offer cross-curricular learning experiences with the intention that students become creative and independent problem solvers, effective communicators, collaborators, and self-directed learners. These programs include Reading Club, Math Club, S.T.E.M. Club, Dance, Art, and Performing Art to name a few.
Family Focus uses the Community School model to find remedies to barriers outside of the classroom that impact learning. The model provides a platform and infrastructure to build collaborative partnerships, resources and programming that focuses on academics, heath, family support, parent leadership and community engagement. It is our goal that these efforts lead to improve student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.
